Nest options for LBGE?
The EggCrate I slapped together when I first got the LBGE looks like its days are numbered. I had thought I would get a nest and handler, but now I see there are a few options. I'd appreciate any feedback from folks who have their eggs set-up with any of the following:
1. Nest with old style handler - Still leaning towards this. I can probably pick up a nest on CL for a reasonable price, after folks have built tables for the eggs they got over Xmas.
2. New IntEGGrated Nest + Handler. Looks like a shopping cart, and I may need the new bands for this to work.
3. Modular Nest - I kind of like this option, but the footprint is larger than the rolling nest.

Even older bolt on handler will not work with some older bands. So many little changes it's tough to keep up.
This is not a bad deal and maybe they will come down some.

Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
My Large is just over 9 years old. I have the nest that came with it. No handler. It gets rolled around somewhat frequently. I feel it is a matter of time before I slip, or a caster hits a pebble, or someone else moves the egg and she tips over.
I have thought about this for a while, and when I do it, I will put the new bands on with the new nest handler. Good luck with your decision!Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

No bad choices. I think the bands aren’t an issue? Not 100% though. There are work arounds if they are.

I've considered getting new bands. Do you feel the decreased angle of opening the lid makes any difference?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Have u seen the Cuna cart it’s made by Smoken products. This cart looks durable and would roll really nicely. I was just about to buy one for my egg but I sold my egg.Ewa Beach, Hawaii

I would (and do) keep my three in nest with handlers (well two with handlers). . Just so easy to transport or move around. Keep the options open.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

I really like my Cuna from Smoken Products, I sold my brother on it too. Very good for moving your Egg around on uneven surfaces, very stable.

@Mickey I'm almost certain that you're the one who initially sold me on the idea of the nest handler.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

The Cuna looks pretty HD. If you have a welder/buddy, you could have one fabricated for what I spent in materials ($150) for mine, which has 8” flat free Marathon casters.

Trust your gut and go cheap. I found a nest/handler for my XL for $1 on Facebook Marketplace.

That's a sweet nest you fabbed up, @littlerascal56. I'll look into those casters. I have pneumatic wheels from HF on my large and small eggs, but they lose air.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

My XL has been in a nest with handler since I bought it. My patio is made up of three foot cement squares separated by 2" boards and is quite uneven. I have no problem moving the Egg around. However, I learned from the forum that you always pull it, never push it.XL BGE in San Jose, CA. i kinda like the square box one, easy to set up folding tables off the side, big crowd big table, small table for family needs

I went with the new integgrated nest and handler. I’ve had it since May. It rolls around nicely on my patio. The handle is large and I feel that is sturdy enough.XL BGE

Mine just sits on the ground. Under the bridge here.

@craigsotheregg how big are the casters? Sounds like it rolls well on those pavers. My patio is flagstone and so it's not an even smooth surface.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
