What should I do with my old top and bottom?

Have had a medium BGE for more than 20 years. When the firebox and fire ring had to be replaced, the current fire ring size was just a little too big for the old base. BGE then gave me a new top and bottom. Awesome warranty! Now I have my old top and old bottom which are still in good shape. I hate to throw them away since they are still in good shape. Hate to throw away anything that might be useful. Any ideas? Thanks my fellow eggers!

In your case where the issue was a change that BGE made that caused you to have to switch dome and base and not something that was a warranty issue I would by a band set and put the old egg back together and have 2 eggs. It’s not like you’re hoarding broken warranted pieces and frankensteining a egg together for free.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Good idea. Have to find a fire ring that will fit though.

if its just the ring that doesnt fit, cut a new ring into three pieces that will fit. you are looking at a band and new ring

I had the same issue with a mini egg and used a belt sander on the fire ring to get it to fit. It was very messy though.

How bad was the fire bowl and ring broken?South of Columbus, Ohio.

Both original bowl and ring were in pieces. Could not reuse. If I am going to put together a second egg, I will need to purchase a new fire box, fire ring, bands, grate and grill. Looks like about $400. Think I might just turn it into a flower pot, or put it up on Craigslist to sell / give away. There might be someone out there that needs the parts. If you need them, let me know. I am west of Atlanta. I already own an XL and the medium, don't really need a third egg right now. Thanks everyone!

I would jury-rig a setup in the bottom, with three bricks and a Kick-Ash basket, with a wok ring above that, so I had a wokking station without the lid in the way.
But that's a specialized use, just something I've always wanted; you may not even do wok cooking.
Or, grab your spackling trowel and make one of these:
