Acacia Module inserts - to teak or not to teak?

Just purchased the modules with the acacia inserts. Just curious if there is any feedback out there on how to treat them or just leave them as they come?
Thanks!

Is the wood finished at all or just bare? You could rub with tung oil. Or varnish with spar urethane. Depends on what look you’re going for.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

i would let it weather for a month then coat it with a teak sealer if it has not been finished. tung oil holds up pretty good on my boat but the spar varnish needs a crew of worker bees maintaining it if you want it to shine. teak sealer, not teak oil

What’s the advantage of teak sealer? I have a mahogany chair out on the patio that I rub down with tung oil every couple of years, but wonder if I should use something else.fishlessman said:i would let it weather for a month then coat it with a teak sealer if it has not been finished. tung oil holds up pretty good on my boat but the spar varnish needs a crew of worker bees maintaining it if you want it to shine. teak sealer, not teak oil#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
the tung oil doesnt have uv protection. either way they both work but the sealer should maintain the color longercaliking said:

I like boiled linseed oil. No shine, just an oiled finish for some protection...
