Yes and a motion soap dispenser and your good to go. I got a Moen due to the lifetime warranty. After about 4 years the hose started dripping a small amount where the head of the faucet attaches. Called them up and they sent me a new one with just proof of purchase. It’s so nice when you have meat hands and don’t have to touch anything. Mine has a front and top sensor and you can turn either sensor off if you want.
  • Mrs Lopey was telling me about a smart faucet that turns on with voice commands and off with motion sensor. I don't have the brand, etc., but thought that would be great when I'm prepping meat, especially pork and chicken.

I've read a lot of people reviewing them that say the sensors can go bad and leave you with running water frequently. I guess from a hygiene perspective they are good but I don't think they are necessary if you have a faucet with a control knob that doesn't require twisting.

There were also complaints recently that they "Listen" to you even when not in use and report back to headquarters of all your misgivings.

You are really missing out. The Moen have a lifetime warranty if a sensor goes bad no big deal. I just checked amazon order history I got mine July 28 2015 when they were still fairly new and mine is still working great. I have the Moen arbor spot resistant.

My problem too was that we wanted an Industrial Style Kitchen Faucet and I couldn't find one of those with touchless. At least not one that wasn't $2,000

the delta in the kitchen has been leaking for 20 years since i bought the house =) the drip drip drip sound is very relaxing.  i wouldnt trust the warranties down the road as the models change regularly and parts go out of stock, i cant even find the parts for that very common delta crap faucet. but then again i would expect to get 50 years out of it

We have a Kohler one that I bought at Costco and it is awesome.  You can always bypass it if there are issues, but it has been rock solid for us.  It is great for when you are prepping stuff and don't want to touch the handle.  We always laugh that when we use a kitchen sink anywhere else, we always wave our hands under it like morons!

I have an commercial style like this:
KOHLER Sous Pro-Style Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Kitchen Faucet in Vibrant Stainless
Home depot for around $260. I really love this thing. Touchless would be nice but I don't think I could go back to any other type of faucet. It has great pressure and a great range of motion. It is like having a garden hose in your kitchen.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

  • I don't have these at home but our office has touchless Delta faucets and soap and even those have gone bad a couple times over the 3 years we've been in our new building. I'd say skip it and buy old fashioned.

The average person only stays in a house for 7 years or so. I paid like $350 at the time so if it last till I sell the house in 5-7 years I’ll be more than happy.

i would bet that delta didnt last the 5 years for the prior owner.  delta is junk, kohler is going down as well since hd started selling them.  would probably stay away from those two. hansgrohe is what i did the bathroom with, more a mid level faucet, but seems well made. i remember going into one fancy kitchen/bath place, theres some really well made pricey stuff

I got the same Moen Arbor in spot resist stainless three years ago but opted for the standard model. When my hands are messy it's so easy to turn it on with the back of my hand that I decided that the few times that I might like the sensor turn on it just wasn't worth the hassle of the extra fail points and replacing batteries.
Do love the spot resist stainless tho, it really does work as advertised.

I wired a plug under my sink off of my dishwasher so it’s not on batteries.

Can't help with the touchless as we(the wife) didn't see the value in it as we were building.  The built in soap dispensers are great though.

I also have the Moen referenced above in the kitchen and love the hands-free.  I had an issue with the sensor after about a year and a half and they sent a new one out with no hassle at all.  Liked it enough to put another one in the basement bar area.

  • Keep in mind that the touchless faucets are still controlled with a manual valve. Temperature is set with the manual valve. Depending on what brand you go with, volume of the water may be controlled by the manual valve handle as well. Due to the various patents out there, different companies accomplish touchless in different ways, some of which will be of no consequence to the end user, some will change the experience. Try to demo one first and take note of temperate and volume changes.

I got a Simplehuman motion soap dispenser as well. That is also a must have for me. Works fine with any soap you don’t have to use theirs.

When we bought our current STL place a couple of years ago, SWMBO decided on a motion activated faucet for the kitchen.  At the time, I thought it was a ridiculous and unnecessary complexity, but I've really grown to like it for the reasons noted above.  As also mentioned, once you become accustomed to the motion faucet, you will find yourself foolishly waiving at other "dumb" kitchen faucets.

@fishlessman. Hey fish, I just replaced a delta under warranty.  It did take them 3 tries before they sent me the correct one.  Hit me up I have 2 brand new faucets that they don't want back.  If one fits what you have I'll drop it in the mail.

That warranty is only so good when I'm on one of my two week long work trips.  I live alone so that could be a lot of running water ..
