Hmm, I don't understand why you would go to the effort of making a spicy chile taste like a bell pepper. After all, you can just buy a bell pepper and be done with it.
I think the more interesting trick is to get one jalapeno, or habanero, or hatch chile taste like the next. That, as I understand it, is the purpose of selective breeding: consistency.Plymouth, MN -

I ended up smoking them alongside a pork shoulder for about 8 hours, they were black a dry in end. I let them cool off, popped them into the blender with some water, fresh lime juice, some orange zest and tomato paste.... off the hook!!!! Amazing. Spicy as all hell but doable. I put about half cup of it in a bowl with fresh chopped tomatoes and red onion and cilantro, salt and pepper. Amazing salsa! Smokey, hot,
