Depends on how much you want to spend.  The 200, 300, 400, EggGenius, and 500 are all pretty much identical when it comes to the performance, algorithm, and app.  All the changes is the number of meat probes, and screen ( which gives you the ability to control the unit without the app.)  So you just need to decide how many meats you want to monitor and if you want a screen on the control unit.

    400.....1 meat, no screen
EggGenius.....2 meats, no screen (must buy 2nd probe plus y-adapter)
500.....3 meats, 64 character backlit screen (must buy 2 extra probes, but no y-adapters required.)

The 500 has the most possibilities and I like having the screen.  But if you're looking to save $100, go with the 400.  In and case, send me an email before you go shopping.

I would never buy a control unit that was only viewable with a device.
Buy the 500 @ Smokeware. 25% off right now.
    Thank you,

This. Flameboss has had hosting issues to boot. I have an auber WiFi unit, and a smobot. Both have screens and interfaces I can use outside of just using my phone (although I enjoy the WiFi option they have too). If I were to eventually get a flameboss, I would opt for a screen interface model.
  • Thermoworks SIGNAL. 4 probes (1 pit, 3 meats) Has a screen, works bluetooth for local or wifi/cloud for remote.  Also has a new billows blower to regulate airflow... I'm curious.

I have an egg genius (actually 2), it can do 1 pit and 3 meats (with adapters). I love it actually. I actually like that it doesn't have a screen, but then I always carry my phone. Besides, I have a tablet I use for babysitting but that's why the genius is great.  IT will tell YOU when you're done (and even hold the meat warm amd start shutting down the egg if you want).

By the way , I’m using ThermoPro TP20 and it’s great tool , I’m considering to purchase the Flame Boss or Genius for the air control ( Fan feature ) that’s the main motivation

I know this is never usually brought up (I just dont think they advertise, and they are such a large presence in temp control units), but another plug for the auber because it has wifi, and a screen, and its lower than most of the competitors at $250:

Ive not had any trouble with it, and I have another one that is used to control my electric smoker.  I dont use it as much since I bought the smobot, but that is because I enjoy messing around with controlling the smoker without a fan.
