Vent Cap Stuck
Murfee
Posts: 1
Due to moving, my EGG has been in storage for appx. 4 months. Now that it has a new home, I've started refurbishing all the metal components. She's 13 years old and the last 7 years have been in salt air so the nest and hinge assembly were pretty nasty. Sandblasting and powder coating work wonders. My problem is that the daisy wheel vent cap is stuck to the ceramic dome. I believe it is due to the creosote build up inside the cap. Any advice on separating the two without causing any damage?
In advance, thanks

The metal cap will expand at a faster rate than the ceramic. Grab some hi temp gloves or pot holders to wiggle that thing off.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Exactly what was said above. I’m guessing by about 400 to 500 that thing will start to loosen up. But also, welcome to the forum.Memphis, TN
