Questions about building a new table

Hello all,
long time forum follower, first time poster.

I am wanting to build a table for my BGE Lg and had a couple of questions for the collective wisdom of the group.  I got a Large BGE for Christmas from my lovely wife this year.  The package that she got came with the nest, but i need some prep space for most of my cooks.  I would really like to build a outdoor prep area with a housing for my egg.  My preference would be to have a large stationary counter with some storage space, but i'm concerned about the lack of portability for the egg.  I have at times had to reposition the egg to account for wind or rain, which is an easy thing to do on a paved patio with the nest.  Has anyone had any issues building a stationary table (without casters) limiting the airflow into the egg.  Would it be best to build a table around the egg using the nest on the paved patio or is this a solution in search of a problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice

While you are still in the design stage you might want to take a stroll through this link for some ideas.

I would keep it simple and find and outdoor table with storage and just keep your Egg in the Nest next to your table.
After you cook with this setup you should have a better idea of what will work for you.
    Thank you,

    Darian,
This is probably the best course of action, I just really like the look of the tables with the hole in the middle that highlight my Egg.

make sure you plan for storage, plate setter both hot right after its off the egg, and cold when not in use, if your going to add a cast iron grate or pans for searing, make sure you have room.  if your going to get an adjustable rig or something, you will need a good amount of storage.  plan to have prep space as well, needing to foil or wrap things in butcher paper etc.  if you are worried about rain, can you look into the smokeware cap, great for eggs that not covered.  i built a simple first table following the big green egg plans so i could use there cover (link below).  as you do more and end up buying more you will get a great idea of what you want and need.  i would sit a small make shift table near your egg and see what you use it for to help you plan out your table.  plan on using a table nest to provide an air gap for safety, BGE sells one and so does JJGeorge, i am biased towards the second since i help desgin it.  I am not sure where you are located but i have a big green egg table nest on my work bench i am not using so if you want to send me a message we can work out just shipping or i can drop it off on one of my many road trips.
