2-Zone using KAB Charcoal Divider
Has anyone else used the charcoal divider plate for the Kick Ash Basket to create a 2-zone grilling. I've been using one since last year and it works great for searing and roasting, or reverse sear for steaks. I don't read about a lot of people using this setup on their eggs and was curious if there are others out there.

I've never tried one. Then again, I've never seen one. Please post a pic or a link so those of us that haven't, can.
Thanks!

What size egg? Lot more effective in the xl than the large due to the lower grate diameter and proximity to cooking grid.

I two zone in the XL all the time. Nothing required, just a live fire on one side, and nothing on the other. It’s a ceramic kettle.

I use the dividers from CGS with the kickash basket when using the Joetissirie and for two zone cooking on my XL.

I do 2 zone in my XL. I use 2 fire bricks to butt up against the charcoal to makes sure it stays where I want it.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but for those who 2-zone do you do the divider front-back or side-side, and if the latter is the coal at the front or the back?

I dont use a divider very often, if I do I use weber kettle charcoal baskets to hold the coal on one side. I always put the fire in the back on a 2 zone when using the XL so that I am not reaching across a hot fire to do my work.

Found a pic of how I do it.
Except it is sideways here on this forum ... grr ...
EDIT: trying with html tag ..

I had a stainless steel plate cut and use some aluminum risers to do 2 zone. Put the grate on the risers.

Sorry. Don't post here much. Guess I don't know how to post pics. I'll try again

@cookingdude555 Thanks for the info; certainly makes sense, plus airflow is better back there.

Hey cookingdude555. Thanks! Yeah it doubles as a plancha. I cook 2 zone about 90% of the time since I got this thing. Just makes it easier to control your heat. I can actually walk away from things like chicken quarters without worrying about them burning up.
