Calling All NOVA Eggheads *Need Catering Recommendations*

I live in Northern Va (Centreville) and finally marrying my girl. Some might say we are rushing into it with only 14 years of dating but I think I know enough about her by now, lol. We are having the wedding reception at the Westfield's Marriot but the rehearsal dinner will be at a local brewery and I want to get it catered from one of the local bbq places. Our families aren't from this state so I thought it would be cool to expose them to some local beer and bbq. For those living in the area, any recommendations of a good bbq place?

Haven't been there but Willards in Chantilly has pretty good reviews.

WIllards is ok but not my favorite. I did reach out to Dizzy Pig for suggestions and they hooked me up.

Resq BBQ is a great local food truck that caters and always makes rounds to all the local breweries.

Mission BBQ is also pretty solid but it is more commercial.

@johnnyp thanks for the shout out. @Dillonjm welcome to Virginia! I live in Fairfax and Dizzy Pig (our HQ) is in Manassas, so I have you flanked :) Unfortunately I rarely eat BBQ out. I hear good things about different places, but the fact is...it's hit or miss with BBQ restaurants. If you can find a place that pulls or slices the meat just before serving, then you could be onto something. It may be out there, but I am not aware of a joint around here that is really known for doing it the right way. (rough example: Franklins and places like that that cut/pull/serve immediately. When they are out of BBQ, they're out That's how BBQ should be.

But here in Northern Virginia, people are rushing everywhere, sitting in traffic, and generally ready to move along to the next thing. So most places cater toward that mentality. Show your family some food highlights for us right around here are Matzu Sushi (Centreville), Sisters Thai (Fairfax). Then there is Arlington. Restaurant Mecca and worth checking out. And Manassas for Mexican food and Peruvian Chicken. Let me know what else you are looking for (besides BBQ) and I'd be happy to help! We're right up the road from you (15 minutes) if you want to stop in and talk BBQ.

Wish I had better news about BBQ joints. Cheers!

Thanks everyone for weighing in. I went with Natural Red Catering, who use Big Green Eggs as part of their arsenal and some Dizzy Pig seasonings. I will definitely check out those other spots in the future!
