We keep a couple of these in the freezer. We love lamb especially RoL. I've never gotten a bad one. As someone mentioned, prepackaged meats, I've heard it called wet-aged, will get a gamey smell and liverish texture if it is left too long.

That has been my experience as well. As long as the rack of lamb is within the "sell by" window, I just rinse them off, pat them dry and then prep as usual.
