First Tri Tip - Won't be the last!
Picked up a tritip from Trader Joe's and decided to put it on the Egg last night before the NCAA championship game. It came out great and will certainly be a regular in the rotation from now on. Following some suggestions on the forum, I did it indirect at about 275 until the IT hit 115. Pulled it and got the Egg up to almost 700 to sear each side for just under two minutes. Served with a variety of grilled vegetables and a homemade chimichurri.

Looks good.
How tender was it? I like the flavor of tri but find it can be very tough when I order it in a restaurant (the waiter usually raves about it and then serves me rare beef flavored bubble gum) :)

Great looking cook right there. Gotta love those grilled veggies as well. Congrats.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
@KiterTodd I found it to be quite tender actually. I think slicing it correctly makes a big difference as well.

As the OP said, cutting against the grain is the key.
