Cold smoked my bourbon.... awesome

After experimenting with this last summer I was keen to try again armed with some new tricks I learned from the first go around.

This time I stirred every 10-15 min and checked for flavour as we went.

Indirect with no coal, just a pellet tube smoking away, few additional photos below from what I could fit on my Instagram post

What’s what’s the big round thing in your glass....seems like something that may destroy a good bourbon  =)

The first time I did this I over did it ... the first time I (1) used a pan which exposed more surface area to the smoke (2) no diffuser which I assume added more smoke contact and (3) stirred regularly and left on a long time (4) mesquite pellets which were too strong

This time I used peach pellets and stirred every 10-15 taking samples as we went.... you know .... for quality control purposes lol

It can take an inexpensive whiskey to one that tastes like bottles costing 2x as much when done well.

Most cocktail bars use a smoke gun to enhance some of their whisky based drinks. I don’t have a smoke gun so I often smoke a bottle to have available for these types of drinks

nice. I’ve experimented with cherry and mesquite. Obviously different flavors after.

Might be my imagination but I think even the cherry gets sharper with time even though it’s been in glass for the last few months.

    Anyone else experience this .
