I have 2 Griswolds. A 5 like that I found at a St. Vinnie's, and a 10 from my grandparents. Both needed lots of restoration. My work wasn't the best, but I put at least $45 of time and effort getting the one from St. V. ready to cook again. Even more for the 10, from around 1925, which had been in an uncle's garage for more than 20 years.I bought food grade linseed to season them. The 10 is so big, I don't use it enough, and I see I may need to work a bit at re-seasoning. The 5 is a little small, but gets used often enough that its ready to go.

Way back in the day some CI makers did nickel plate some of their stuff for a while. I don't know enough about Gris to know if/when they used to nickel plate. If it was plated I would think that the number in the handle would also be shiny. Dunno.A decade or so ago there was a CI maker in North Carolina that brought back the nickel plating of CI skillets. Their process was such that the pans were non-toxic, never rust, nonstick, and even dishwasher safe. That company seems to have gone missing but another company is now offering similar stuff: https://www.grizzlycookware.com/

I would offer $35 cash. $45 is a bit high but if you like it and it's not a spinner then buy it.
Just a clarification. Griswold switched from nickel plating to chrome when they introduced the large block logo in 1920. This skillet was manufactured sometime from 1920 to 1940.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser. -
Let us know what you paid if you buy. No way you pay full price.... for anything. Lol.

Picked it up tonight.
No cracks, and seems really flat.
Cleaned it up a little but needs a little more work.

Does it spin? Methinks you snagged a pretty nice pan there.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Its not 100% flat but it does not spin on the stove grates at all.
It’s a small skillet but kinda unique.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Congratulations. Very nice.
Buying cast iron cookware, especially Griswold, is addictive. Be prepared!Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser. -
