I think it's technically another Jim 'n Nicks that is paying Scott to promote it with his namesake.  I enjoy Jim 'n Nicks, but I'm hoping Scott has full control over the joint. Keep us posted how it compares to the original.

I went by there today for lunch. Crowd was out the door and was not moving.
I abandoned my plan and will come back later after the new has worn off.
I hope the Jim and Nicks influence doesn't ruin the place.
This location has the kiss of death on it already. No business has been successful in this location. The place is located on the wrong side of a bad hill. The last place was a Jim and Nicks affiliated Vietnamese place. It started strong, but with every passing month the parking lot had fewer cars, it died a slow death.
The fact is, the area where it is located is saturated with hipster places, and there aren't enough hipsters to keep all the places in business.  Hipsters are a fickle bunch, they love a place one day, and when the next new place opens, they move on.

i didnt realize it was a jim and nicks.  i am excited to get down there and try it and see if it compares to his main one in charlston.  the jim and nicks biscuits are amazing so if he includes those it can not be terrible.

so i just looked it up and a couple articles say the same thing.  there is no Jim and Nicks influence on the food and menu it looks like.  the investor that helped him open did co-found jim and nicks but this looks like rodney has full control.  i saw some pictures on his social media and the cookers look to be the same as we saw in charlston when we visited.

I've reserve engineered those "biscuits".   Technically they are muffins but they are delicious nonetheless.

Rodney Scott's location in Birmingham AL- Avondale area has closed- He has opened a new place in Homewood and Trussville.
With the Avondale location close to my office, I was able to keep an informal track of the lunch crowd size- He started strong, but with each passing month, the lunch crowd grew smaller.  Rodney Scott claims that he has moved, and that is indeed true- but this Avondale location closed after the others were in operation. As I mentioned previously, the Avondale location is a place of repeated restaurant failures. Rodney Scotts food was okay- not great- and pricey. Saw's BBQ a block or so from Scotts is tough competition for the lunch crowd.

I hope Scott's new locations fare better.......

Rodney’s location in Avondale wasn’t very good in regards to the physical location. Hopefully the new location will fare better. FWIW, the Charleston location is far better than Atlanta or Birmingham when it comes to food quality.
