Norah and I have been talking about her doing 1 or 2 cooks per month for the next year and posting them here and on her Instagram.   She thought it would be fun to do a 1yr bbq cooking adventure/pictorial. Most of the cooks won’t be typical bbq, but each cook will have at least 1 bbq/grilled item.

Is this something the group would be interested in?  Do you think this would a good way for her to build content for her Instagram and hopefully followers

@Great_EGGspectations I couldn’t see a downside either, just didn’t know if the eggheads get sick of seeing post about her cooking.   We love to document the journey but that  doesn’t mean everyone else likes being bumbarded with it.

I thought that too, but the recent Buffalo sweep took out a lot of the trash. Also, I understand her dad was going to be using the forum with her in step.

This being said, I did stumble across random hardcore porn on this forum a few weeks back.

No!!!! She is only able to see the things I pick after I’ve reviewed them.  So far everyone has been respectful in terms of language and content on her post.

Every time I see a post from @ryantt I check it to see if there is some new cook from Chef NG, so I am thinking posting more of her cooks would be a good thing. I do worry about the amount of inappropriate stuff on here she may run across though. Hopefully you can closely monitor what she sees or has access to.

@epcotisbest I look at her post first and then show them to her.  As I said on her post everyone has been respectful of the fact I have a 9yr old little girl.  Nothing questionable has shown up.

Nothing at all wrong with posting the cooks. The more the merrier! I know I only post about 5% of what I cook on the egg anyways

Sounds like a great idea.  I would definitely check in on it.

Even the most egregious members have boundaries and kids are one.

Good way to document her progress, teach her about interwebz and social media, and just general bonding with your daughter.

Full support here.  Always a daily brightener when her cooks are posted.
I would suggest you go to great lengths to make sure the created commitment does not become a burden down-stream.

How about YouTube? Would she have any interest in making cooking videos? She might gain a lot of ground this way to get followers and her name out there. A lot more work but might be kind of fun for you and her.

We are going to video each of her cooks and once we have 4 or 5 done start posting them once a week.  This will giver her and I a chance to learn how to edit them and also a chance to get a jump start on content.   She wants to do a verity of different kinds of cooks grilling, smoking, fresh pasta videos and last but not least some stuff on the black stone.  She has been practicing her egg yolk ravioli and is getting better at them.   Actually my wife said the last batch they did was very good.  She tossed them in a brown butter and roasted Lemmon sauce topped with crispy pancetta.

I for one enjoy it. I love it when the kids are involved. Reminds me of when my boys were young and enjoyed cooking with the old man. My vote is for Chef NG to go full speed ahead.

Gotta start somewhere and there is a large, engaged  community here.  People that are interested will follow, those that aren’t will steer clear.  Not always the case with some topics, but I agree with @Ozzie_Isaac that people won’t cross that line with a kid.

I’m sure this isn’t the right, final place for her if you’re wanting a blog or something that features her, but lots of folks post here and link to their blog.  If they all posted on just one thread of their own for their cooks, that might get annoying quickly.  Maybe just post each cook, like we all do.

It’s a stepping stone I suppose.  I think posting here is more about the interaction, so if interaction between her and this community is what you want, then of course there are things you need to take responsibility for and manage as a parent.

    Love you bro!

@fishlessman that’s good advise.  Firiday can be a little rough at times.   I think most of what she cooks will be on Saturday evenings and posted Sunday afternoons or mondays.  She loves posting cooks here because of the interaction she receives.

She loves to cook and talk about it to all who will listen, so with that being the case she’s trying o reach and talk to more people.  She wants other younger kids especially girls to cook with her outdoors.  This is the driving force for her Instagram and future YouTube.  She wants to post on YouTube kids as well.

Thanks everyone for the feed back and support.  I spoke with Norah tonight and she is excited.  As I said before the idea is for her to take on something new a few times a month.  The photos of the cook and her brief explanation will be posted here.  She would like me to video the cooks and her as a way to encourage other dads to cook with there girls.  That’s a big deal for her.  She will be editing the videos and posting them on YouTube and YouTube kids.   Once we have 4 or 5 videos editors we will start posting them on the other site.  Also she wants to post each cook on Instagram along with photos of her demodays and what not.  She’s the one driving all of this, I’m just along for the ride and to help teach her how to use this for ages safely.

We feel good about the i teraction and support we’ve received from the egghead community. I greatly appreciate your kindness and support of her adventure.  We hope to keep learning from the group and hope that we contribute to some of the fun had here.

Thanks for letting us be apart of the egghead family. Even if we sometimes cook on red.
