Pork Butt w/Molasses

Options
Anyone ever try to coat your pork butt with molasses before putting on the the rub? I've done it with mustard before, but molasses?? Can't remember if it was here or somewhere else that I saw that. Not sure if I want to try that experiment or not.

Even low and slow, the pure molasses coat prior to rub might be to much sugar and leave you with a burnt crust coating. But I'm just guessing from similar experience.

My friend once coated with honey and butt rub. He wrapped in foil at about 180 internal temperature until it finished. It was really good. I have been meaning to try it myself...for the last several years...but I just seem to go with my lazy approach of throwing whatever rub I have on hand just before I toss them on the egg.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I think the brisket method of wrapping would work. Pork is pretty cheap. I’d give it a Rip just for the heck of it
