Another Prime Rib question

My apologies if this has been addressed from a previous post, but I couldn't find it after a brief search.

I bought a prime rib on Saturday. I plan on smoking it on Christmas Day (About a week later). I have a fridge but not one used for the sole purpose of aging. Should I
-Keep it wrapped in the packaging I bought it in, untouched until it's go time?
-Buy cheesecloth and wrap it in that? If so for how long?
-Freeze it and thaw it out a few days before Christmas?

Thanks for the help, just don't want to ruin an expensive piece of meat.

Personally I would put it on a cookie cooling rack and let it start drying in the fridge uncovered. If your fridge is below 38F you should have no issues at all.

Set uncovered on a baking sheet with a resting/cooling rack.  It may start to look a little dried out on the surface by the time you get to Christmas but it should still be perfectly fine.
