couldnt remember if I should get porcelain or ceramic.... evidently I bought the wrong one as just as I was searing a steak on the minimax it sounded like a bomb went off and the table shook.
I dont remmeber whixk of the two I bought, but not wanting to replicate this what kind of tile should I replace it with?

A paver and some feet on the MM to create a larger air gap

This is somewhat reminiscent of the “Too much chili..... need new underpants” thread.

Porcelain is a ceramic tile. Ceramic tiles are either porcelain or non-porcelain. Both are fired in a kiln and both should be fine under an egg. Porcelain is used more often for radiant heated floors. Glazed porcelain might be the best choice for radiant heat. Both have been used around fireplaces for hundreds of years.
If your minimax is in the stand then there is a small air gap. Bigger gap is better. Maybe it heated the tile too fast? Maybe the tile had an air pocket in it? Maybe already cracked on an edge? For what it's worth, I have a porcelain tile under my Large with steel support bars underneath.Aledo, Texas
