Turkey time

Yeah yeah another newbie askin about turkeys.
I've read all about the mad max method for my bird. What worries me is the timing, bird is 20lbs and I've got a large egg so I think spatchcocking is out. I figured 4-5hrs at 325-350 indirect. What's the more experienced opinions for timing?

    Spatchcock isn't out
Salado TX Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

  • I cooked one for the first time a few weeks back. 21lb bird @ 350 took a little over 4hrs. Cooked indirect.

  • Anyone else have a hard time finding a turkey baster that fits through grill plate? If spatchcock how do you baste with drippings?
  • I did a 21 lb. spatchcock turkey in a large. It took 3 hours at 325.
Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 6 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

  • I guess I should really see what kind of setup I can configure now. Thank you for the input. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Two firsts for me, egging in this temp and doing a 20+lb spatchcocked turkey direct. After reading a couple posts by @FaceDance and talking to him I decided to try it. Did a @Mickey coffee rub and it Came out awesome in about 2.5hrs
