So you really don’t have to get another top.No - What I meant is once you install the Smobot on the old daisy wheel top, you can leave it there and you don't need another top. If you don't want to plug in and use the Smobot as a controller, you can still adjust airflow manually with the Smobot damper.I am guessing that Smobot is working on an adapter/damper for the new rEGGulator based on Eric's recent request for dimensions.

the most basic way to control grill temps is the pitmasterIQ 110 for $140. It's only pit control, no food probes, isn't fancy wifi but it does what most people want, control the grill's temperature. up from the 110, the variety of methods and prices are wide.
I would drop the extra $10 and get the egg genius over the flame boss 400. Basic same parts and such except, the extra 10 spot gets you multi-probe capability.

tThe problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

Just a heads up for anyone buying the Egg Genius, if you are trying to use the new app but only have an older iPhone or iPad, the app will only run on iOS 11 or newer. Which come to find out is not available on iPhone 5 or older. Yes I need a new phone, but I can't download the app and will have to run the controller from my wife's phone. And on a positive note I ordered the Egg Genius from ceramic grill store yesterday morning and it's out for delivery today. I'd say that's pretty quick service.

I made my own controller - it's fun if you can solder, and want to do it. I still use it after about 2-3 years.

You buy a kit, parts show up, solder it together, and off you go. I didn't make a case.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. I'm the guy holding a beer. -

I have been researching controllers for some time now. I never see much mention of the Auber brand (https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_27&products_id=654). The few reviews I have found seem really positive. Wondering if anyone has experience using these? Would love to hear your experience.
