Flame Boss 400

I finally gave in and decided I’d purchase a temp control device to make my overnight cooks easier and more consistent. After a bunch of internet-ing, I decided to roll the dice on the new Flame Boss 400. Not seeing any reason to pay extra $ to have it painted green, I ordered direct from Flame Boss. Shipping was free and it was on my doorstep two days later.
And now for the good news: the FB 400 definitely fits the BGE. The included large adapter plate fits easily into the bottom vent. The WiFi control is awesome and the app is easy to use. Pics show a mojo pork butt (courtesy of Naked Whiz) I made last weekend. Last pic is the final graph from the cook. I ran low on charcoal around hour 16, but that’s not the FB’s fault. Honestly, being able to watch a cook from miles away is a game changer for me. Brisket is going on at lunch on Friday. I’ll watch the cook while at work and be able to sleep all night knowing I can pull the meat in the morning in plenty of time for tailgating. Happy cooking and Hook Em!

Very nice sir. Did you sleep during the cook? Or were you constantly stirring?
I have the FB300 and love it. Their customer service is amazing if you have any issues.Atlanta, GA

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
I did sleep pretty well. Turned over a few times to check the phone, but that was it.
Yep, $219. With my 1 cook experience, I’m glad I was able to save some cash compared to other models out there. Time will tell if it holds up. I’ll post pics of the brisket this weekend. -

There have maybe been a half dozen that had problems out if that....1%? Each time FB sent the customer a new one with a prepaid tag to return the old one. Great company and people. What have I missed with the 200 and 300 being discontinued? Weren't those models with multiple meat probes? It seems that they are now only showing the 100 and 400, both of which have a single meat probe.LBGE/Maryland

The 200 was a single meat probe like the 100 and added wifi.
The 300 had wifi like the 200 and added the ability to add two more meat probes by use of y adapters....total of three. Plus a few other internal and functional upgrades.
The 400 is all new. No control head, direct to the internet or app. Has a single meat probe with wifi.
The 500 is supposed to be out by the end of the year. Up to 3 meat probes, no y adapters needed, and a big 4 line backlit screen.
So think of the 400 as a lower cost version of the 200, and the 500 as a redesigned/upgraded 300. -
I really like the one I got a few weeks ago from @stlcharcoal . Especially after @The_Stache helped connecting it to wi-fi (thought I was ok doing it but had to ask the expert) . Have used it a few times and had NO issues holding temps on the XL. Haven't done an overnight cook, but I'd probably check on it a time or two if i did.

If you use Do Not Disturb functions on your phone, just put that FB number in as trusted number and give it a really annoying tone that will wake you up.
