OT - IT experts? Question about web hosting/domain
What's the best way to reserve a domain name? For now, just want to save the name, but eventually will need to host a website. For that matter, if I choose one host can I transfer the name and website to another host in the future?

Omnis is who I use. Buy the domain and park it until you are ready for it. Yes, you can host it/change registrar to whoever you want in the future~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

To clarify -- should I use Omnis to register and park it? Or is their strongpoint in the hosting aspect?
-
You can buy the domain from Omnis and it will remain parked there. When then time comes to create an actual website, they offer a website builder template that lets you create your site and then host it.~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

I use NameCheap. I buy my domains through them and leave them parked there until I am ready to actually build the site. I have some clients that have owned names for years and have never gotten around to building the actual site.

Still using Go Daddy
For hosting I use Inmotion and just started using Divio cloud for python sites Orlando, Hunters Creek FL with a XL "I gave my BGE Chantix but it just wont quit smokin...."
"Not a Chef, but I love to cook.. Sometimes I get a hug and sometimes my wife says unrepeatable things in another language....." -
What's a python site? And you are using godaddy just to claim the domain I assume?
-
Yes on Go Daddy just parking the domains there. Python is a programming language that makes for superfast websites, check out python, django and angular which is how we are building our new sites. If your looking for simple (non coding) go daddy has a decent wordpress hosting though thats pretty simple to learn and use.odie91 said:What's a python site?
