Rockwood lump in the mountains near Asheville/ Hendersonville

ok, so , just to be on the safe side, I lugged 2 bags of rockwood lump all the way up from our place in Florida to NC mountains for our 2 week  sabbatical watching the leaves turn color in the blue ridge mountains. I was not sure of rockwood availability up there. We left  Fladah it was 89 degrees ... 64 degrees when we arrived 10 hours later in Gods country. Uneventful trip on interstate 75 other than the momentary euphoric moments passing thru Gainesville Florida, home of the university of Florida.
fast forward to today in a Ace hardware store in Mills river NC (between Asheville and Hendersonville).....
I notice The guy in front of me at the cash register is buying a bag of rockwood ( from a well stocked shelf of rockwood... A beautiful thing...)
i mentioned to him that he was about to purchase the best charcoal that I have ever used....and he would be impressed with its performance....
his response surprised me....staring at my Gator  t shirt he pontificated.... " how the hell wud  u know...?? U are from Florida "
moral of the story....even a university of Tennessee graduate can figure out good lump charcoal if he puts his mind to it.
Sarasota Fl. and  Lake Toxaway N.C. (and Novembers on the island of Kauai) (and April in France.... Don't hate on me for that)
BGE  medium and minimax

price was $24 per bag...they also had a very large selection of BGE stuff (all of which I have ...thanks to all of you!)...
The Ace is located right next to the Ingles grocery store in Mills river.

Not for nuthin but if you stop there, consider swinging into the Ingles for some of their red coastal shrimp. Cooked on the medium BGE it is fresh and outstanding taste.
    all the best!

I would have replied to him “I would know because I talk to the owner of the damn company on the big green egg forum a$$hat” and people wonder why society is going to down the toilet more and more daily. That guy thought it perfectly acceptable to be a prick even though he knows nothing about you. Sheesh....Glad you found a Rockwood source up there though.

There is a kitchen/home store on the east side of Asheville that I pick up Rockwood lump at on my way home from BB every year.  I'll look it up and post the name.  They carry Wicked Good, FOGO, Kamado Joe and Rockwood.
