New Toy "Searzall"

This wanders off from Egg usage, but reading a response in the thread about using CI for finishing reverse sear that mentioned setting off smoke alarms when searing on a stove top, thought I might toss this in.

There's the chef, Dave Arnold, who lives in a tiny Manhattan apartment. He really wanted to sear stuff, but didn't have a way w/o filling the apt w. smoke. Came up with this propane torch attachment that spreads the flame, and runs it thru a set of palladium screens that re-emit lots of IR.

Since I've been doing a fair amount of SV, the time it takes to get the Egg up for a finish sear is rather tedious. So I bought a Searzall, having set off my smoke detector several times while finishing steaks on the stove top.

It works reasonably well. Not as good as a lava sear on the egg, but tolerable. Used it a few days ago to brown some brats when the whole day was filled w. thunderstorms. Haven't gotten around to grilled cheese, or firming up runny eggs.

And its good to amuse guests with, since the tip turns lava red, and the sound is like a small jet.
