The BGE stones are the best quality in my opinion.

I'm happy with this one

I've been cooking since summer 2018 on a large BGE (prior to that on a Weber with a Slow N' Sear). Current grilling in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. -
I’m really happy with my BGE stone. It handles the high heat without issue. I went thru 2 less expensive ones (they basically shattered due to high heat) prior to obtaining the BGE stone.Large Big Green Egg in a nest. North Shore of Boston.

Got mine from CGS and I've been happy with them.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I have the BGE stone and I actually use it mostly as a heat deflector down in the Spider from Ceramic Grill Store and handles it well. I also know CGS has great stones as well, and they may be cheaper.Cooking on a Large Big Green Egg in North Chicagoland.

You want a stone that is at least 5/8" thick made of cordierite. Both the BGE and CGS stones meet this. If you have a good pottery supply store near you, you can get a kiln shelf. Pizza stones and kiln shelves are the same thing. Kiln shelves sell for less than an equivalent pizza stone. While you are at the pottery supply store you could also get some kiln shelf posts to use as spacers in the egg.

In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
