Help - Mold in my BGE

Got my Smokeware cap yesterday so went to put in on this morning and opened my Egg and saw lots of mold. I am on the East Coast and it has been very rainy and humid so hoping it just because of that. Anyone else experience this?  Anything I can do to prevent it?

  • I have found that after the Egg is completely cool, if I open the lower vent about an inch, it will allow a bit of airflow and prevent mold. Good luck!

After shutting it down and fire is out, open the vents a little to allow airflow through it and it’ll be less likely to mold.

Using a cover will also aide the mold growth.

Just fire it up with a fresh load load of lump.  Burn it up, brush it after it’s hot for a while and call it good.

The day after use you can open the vents a bit to help but mostly just cook more

USE the egg... then it won't do that.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I posted the same thing about my Weber Kettle yesterday. First time I ever had that issue in over 50 years of grilling. It was closed and covered.
