Large BGE Gasket Problems

Brand new Large BGE user looking for tips on how to solve this problem.  The lid of my BGE seems to be rubbing the gasket loose on the base of the BGE near the hinge each time I close the lid.  Opens and closes with no problem and seals just fine, but it seems to rub at the rear of the gasket.  Any suggestions?

  • Scrape that factory gasket off and put a Rutland gasket on. The factory one is garbage.

You can can solve your problem for less than $20 and 10 minutes of your time.

You can private message @RRP and he can get you set up. I’ve done it to all 3 of mine. Superior product to say the least.

When the rear of the gasket does that it is proof-positive that the planes of your dome and base are out of whack. Your pictures tell me your egg is not brand spanking new, but if you are still on good terms with your dealer have them come adjust it. If not holler back and I'll tell you how to fix it.

    Hooked another one did we?

Just get and install a Rutland and be done with it.

If the dome is outta whack it will need to be adjusted before any gasket willl do any good.

    +1 to @Mattman3969

If you try to put a Rutland gasket on with the bands out of adjustment, the back will pull loose or you will not get a great seal.

The blue spacers for a large are just slightly over 2mm.

Loosen bands insert 2mm spacers (old washers, etc) re-tighten bands.
