OT - Here is why I have such a hard time keeping weight off during the summer.

My wife made chicken pot pie using the easy recipe in the Joanna Gaines Magnolia Table book and served it with fresh from the garden oven roasted squash last night, then tonight I made boneless, skinless chicken thighs and a salad which is OK, but then I went and added gobs of salad dressing and some of the leftovers from last night as well. So, plenty of carbs and calories tonight. Might do better tomorrow evening, might not.

Wow, that looks good. Hers was not done on the egg, which is why I put this in off topic.

Looks mighty tasty, friend. I’d eat those up (and ask for more).

One simple way of cutting calories, carbs, fats, etc. without sacrificing the ingredients you love is simply cutting portion size. Speaking from personal experience, we ingest far more calories than we need, if leading a fairly sedentary lifestyle. I halved my portion sizes for a few weeks and it worked wonders.

....This coming from a guy who just ate a piece of caramel nut ice cream cake (and an amazing one at that - I may just share the recipe one day).

The problem with half portion sizes is going back for seconds and eating the other half.

Ah my bad, I just look at recent posts and don’t pay attention enough.  Thanks, that one was a cheater pot pie I used pilsbury dough for the crust, cream of chicken and frozen veggies with leftover chicken from the egg for the filling.

With a toddler and 8 month old my “diet” is chasing/carrying them around, I actually think I eat more carbs in winter too.  I use a lot of hot sauce and sriracha rather than calorie heavy sauces as well.

I googled portion control, and right there on the first page is Ron Swanson with the perfect response.  The man's wisdom runs knows no bounds.
