Nest Rubber Foot Covers

I couldn't really come up with what to call them but I was wondering if any of you with your eggs in the nest left the rubber covers over the end of the legs. I did because I felt it would keep the egg from getting scratched when I lifted it into the nest. Well I saw the other day that apparently these have now melted to the outside of my egg. Any thoughts on how to remove them? Or should I even bother? Is it going to remove the outside layer of ceramic? See below location where I'm talking about.

Yes, it's ideal to remove them before they melt. No, they shouldn't remove any glaze. I don't see any reason to remove them until the next time you have the egg outside the nest.

Mine fell off when I setup my nest and I've seen no side effects of not using them.

Just get a pair of pliers and pull them off.

Mine come off randomly. Every now and then I will find one in the dirt behind my Eggs. I can't figure out how exactly, but I have a squirrel theory. The critters around my house have organized and formed alliances.

 This is totally off topic but....

  I was running a sod estimate with a employee one day in a previous life.. we were walking around the house and hear this whirling sound, we both freeze and look side long at each other.  Then it happened, we were nailed by water sprinklers, while running down the side walk more went off! Paper work everything wet, it was hilarious, you get the picture.

  After talking to the customer she said we were assaulted by the motion detector sprinklers that they use keep squirrels away from their house! 

 She said they work great however the squirrels chew holes in the garden hoses to disable them! Clever buggers!

Mine have melted too. I'm getting ready to put my XL in a stainless table/cabinet and was having the same thoughts. Was worried that it might pull the glaze off the Egg, and was prepared to just leave them on, thinking they might eventually fall off of their own volition.
