Costco Beef

I’m going to post this and duck...but I know much has been made about Costco blade tenderizing their beef.

I recently joined Costco and was impressed with the quality of their choice filets (not blade tenderized) but I’m wondering if anyone has actually had a bad experience...gotten sick...whatever...from any blade tenderized beef there.

The prices are great, the variety of cuts available is large and the beef just looks good but I’m a little hesitant to buy. Just wondering what other experiences have been.

Been eating beef from there for 3+ years. Zero issues. The logic in me doesn't understand why they blade prime grade steaks, but I've also read enough about Costco's standards to assume their meat packing shop is probably more clean than most. I cook prime grade ribeyes from there medium rare routinely.

If people were getting sick from Costco blade tenderized beef they would either quit doing it or be sued out of business.

Nah, most consumers overcook their blade tenderized steaks to the point it is not distinguishable from shingles.

You could be right - the only red they want to see on their steaks is what they squeeze out of their big bottle of Heinz ketchup.

Hang on. My comment was not political in nature. It was an observation of the lack of intelligence and palate of the general population. Not sure how you managed to politicize this conversation to include ketchup...

We've been buying Costco Choice NY Strips for years. Yes, they are blade tenderized. Yes they are really tasty. Yes they are a bargain. No, we've never gotten sick. Occasionally I'll grab Prime versions, but honestly they're not that much better.

    I buy Costco Prime cryovacs.
I cannot understand why Costco thinks Prime needs tenderizing.

Everybody knows ketchup doesnt go on steak. Its strictly reserved for hotdogs.
