17 inch blackstone question

Hey, I bought my kidsa 17 inch blackstone, they are looking to convert to a 20 pound take. Do they need a new regulator or just the propane adapter? I know some here have already done this and I welcome any help. Thanks.

They just need an adapter hose.  This one works well for me: https://www.amazon.com/ADAPTER-HOSE-BAYOU-CLASSIC-MfrPartNo/dp/B00M26G432?ie=UTF8&portal-device-attributes=desktop&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage&pldnSite=1

If I remember correctly I think HeavyG recommended it and think others have used it as well.

And no new regulator? I've read elsewhere that you need anew regulator as it is designed originally for low pressure but with 20 pound tank it no longer is, etc. I read that elsewhere mind you. I've always gotten great info here and am thankful for it.

I hear you and all that, but is there a specific reason they want to convert? Initially I thought I wanted to as well. BUT, in our case I had to cool mine off, clean and remove the grease after every use. WHY? well...we have raccoons that would strip our 17" Blackstone of any scent AFTER they (coons) probably had thrown it down in the gully behind us! The Green "bombs" work for me and are easy to disconnect before bringing inside.

I bought the 17” and have cooked on it several times now. I bought a hose to run it off a #20 cylinder. It does seem like it should get hotter.

That's interesting. I've found mine to be the complete opposite. I had the heat cranked up initially than back down to the lowest setting. That little griddle can take some time to come back down to temp.

Do you recall the brand adapter you purchased? I wonder if others are having the same issue?

Don’t remember the brand, bought it from Academy.

My 22" griddle came with longer adapter hose to use larger bottles. No additional regulator needed. I'm sure the 17" would be the same.
Buying longer hose could be tricky as some are made for higher volume, not so much a pressure issue.
    Thank you,
