Unlike many of your deviants on this forum, my grate from CGW (Ceramic Grill Works from Pittsburgh, PA) doesn't swing.  Any ideas for busting the rust that has it all messed up???

So you haven't been swinging for a while??  I had one of the original prototypes with the shaft hole (couldn't come up with anything better) off-set to the extreme outside.  The machining was exact and you had to keep the moving parts quite clean.
I would use any (in keeping with the theme) penetrating oil for around a day or so and then break out the heavy machinery to break it loose.  Talking no more than 3/4" contact and heavy steel.  It can handle it.
Not mine so easy to write.  FWIW-

Personally I'd go with Liquid Wrench followed with a swing with a 2x2  vs. WD-40 and a hammer. Even if the guy over did the LW it can still be cleaned off and any remaining LW can be burnt off.

This is gonna be fun.  Thanks for the input.

On another note, I bought some custom grates from East GA metals for my German FIL. Pics coming soon.  They have a similar set up to the CGW grates.
