Cold smoked whiskey on the BGE

got a 6” amazn pellet tube smoker for doing some cold smokes in the large bge along with some peach wood pellets.
Saw some different approaches so I landed on pouring the bottle into a glass casserole dish and stiring the whiskey every 15 min to help the smoke absorb into the liquid, total smoke time was about an hour.
The video i watched said an hour wasn’t enough but in the egg with stiring this was more than enough as lots of smoke flavour set into the whiskey. I ended up blending a little non smoked back in to dilute it slightly so in hindsight 30-45 min is probably plenty.
the result is a significantly improved inexpensive whiskey for either drinking on it’s own, for mixing or for spritzing my next pork shoulder. Either way an experiment I’ll be sure to replicate moving forward

Cool. Next level bourbon drinking. I suppose you can take that experiment to another level again by charring some new oak chunks and then tea-bagging them in the whiskey to mellow it more. I've seen that done at a distillery near me. He doesn't char it, but adds apple wood chunks

Don't forget to save those tea bag oak chunks to throw back on for the whiskey smoke flavor on yer next brisket.:)Eastern Shore Virginia

Nice idea. You can always smoke some water and turn them into smoked ice cubes and not risk ruining a whole bottle of booze.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

As a man I drink my whiskey neat lol jk, so for those of us that don't use ice or water smoking the whiskey directly is the best way to get the flavour even though you do risk ruining the bottle completely lol -

Water takes smoke really well. In fact, 2 or 3 smoked cubes is overpowering. I do one smoked cube.
A bloody mary / Cesar is a drink that greatly benefits from smoked ice. The flavor from the smoke is next level for sure.

There’s also this option for smoking a drink or small batch at a time.

The easiest way to get smoked whisky...and a true balance of smoke to premium spirits...is to buy a bottle of Lagavulin 16 or Highland park 18.

Since the commercial product Liquid Smoke is essentially just smoked water, has anyone tried adding a few drops to each receptacle of an ice cube tray?
Of course, then you can't play with your barbeque toys.
Then follows adding a drop of LS to a neat portion, anyone tried that?_____________Tin soldiers and Johnson's coming...

Try it cowboy next time for a bit more excitement.

Old thread......great idea. I’m trying this tomorrow when cold smoking some cheese.
Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Once you’ve smoked the whiskey how long do you seal it before drinking?Atlanta, GA
