OT- Coffee Makers
Comments

Another vote for FP. Have used one for years. Got a chemex this past Christmas so have been using it. Makes a cleaner cup than a french press but when using it all I can think is that its a manual version of a standard drip coffee maker.
Invested in a decent Baratza virtuoso grinder and dabbled in roasting my own beans using a popcorn airpopper. Have thought about going more the espresso route and a better bean roaster, grinder etc etc but as @Wolfpack says...I’m not ready to go down that rabbit hole…..

Allows for 1 cup when needed or multiple when you have a party - and has some fancy attachments for when she wants frothed milk and such.
Loved it until a few months ago.

We still have the Keurig, but our go to machine is the Technivorm MoccaMaster
-
I have been using the Technivorm Moccamaster for five years with the glass carafe. It has been great. But I also order fresh (same day) roasted beans each week from The Excellent Cup in Milwaukee. It's the beans that really make it work. I do not like my beer or coffee in metal containers

distanceman said:@g8golfer the French Press is pretty simple. Boil your water between 198-205, add desired amount of fresh ground coffee into the FP, then pour water on top. Stir, let it steep for 4 mins, press it down and pour. I've used one for 10 years now, love it.
I use this Kettle but you can go electric too:

This is the FP I've used for close to 10 years as well. There are tons out there:

I also use an aero press from time to time, both have pros and cons. I think the AP is a lil cleaned taste, but you can't crank out as much coffee. I drink a lot 16 oz...

Oh oh and get yourself a good grinder and use whole beans!

Good luck!
Also... I recently discovered the Coffee/Water Golden Ratio. Makes the perfect cup of coffee IMHO. Here's a link to what I'm talking about:

Flavia Brewer. The freshpacks can be recycled by MARS. Pretty good coffee choices and since each cup is a brewed through an individual freshpack, none of the unsanitary-ness that is notorious in Keurig.

It does. I started roasting in a simple air roaster Fresh Roast SR500 . Moved up to a Behmor 1600 drum roaster and upgraded panel on that to the Plus version for more flexibility in roasting. Used Behmor for a few years and then went with HotTop with computer connection for even more control and so I could track roast profiles in Artisan on my computer .It never ends but with each upgrade my coffee quality has increased . Problem is having coffee that is not mine tastes pretty bad . Can't go out anymore and order a cup . In all of my brewing methods to include the Nespresso with refillable pods and the Jura super automatic ,I use my Roasted beans .

Hm I guess I'm the only one into the cold brew. Them manual Burr grinders, how long does it take to grind for say three cups of coffee?

French Press is all you need. Save you $$ for something else.

We use a Keurig at home as it's convenient. When we camp we use a kettle to boil water and a cone drip into a metal coffee pot. I still say this make best coffee I've ever had.
