Not having had the chance to go to a Big Green Egg Festival before, just curious if this is the norm. $175 entry fee ( team of 4 )to compete with a provided large big green egg, and provided meat of your choice. 16 racks of ribs, 60 lb of Boston butt, 40 lb of chicken wings or 35 lb of brisket along with any other ingredients needed to cook. Sounds like fun, wasn't sure if the $175 entry fee was normal.

I have never done one, but I think normally you provide your own protein.

IMO...the competition aspect goes against the learning and teaching aspect that has always been the heart and soul of a great Eggfest. The above festival seems to have a goal of making money. Are they going to sell the above cooked food for yet more profit besides the $175 entry fee? Not my idea of a good day.
And No, there is normally not a fee for the cooks.
But after seeing link, it's designed to be fundraiser, not traditional Eggfest. Would be a great event to participate.

If they're providing the protein AND you have the chance to win a LBGE, $175 sounds very reasonable to me.

i just posted on the other thread about this, but it is a 20 dollar fee to taste. Not sure if that includes all the breweries that are doing demos. But kids 15 and under eat free, so my 6 kids can come up with me for no charge. I thin, it comes with a T shirt too.
