Regardless of the challenges, you've got this.  Just remain strong and her best advocate.  The trend remains in the upward direction.  You challenge is to accelerate the rate. I am reminded of a saying, "Don't let the ba$tards wear you down."
Wishing SWMBO and your family the very best.

Wife is back in her room but sedated (morphine) and being monitored. Hospital prescribed morphine when she went it but she refused it. This time the nurse told her she is better off having it, she just doesn't know it. Strong and stubborn is this one.

@lousubcap - yep "illegitimi non carborundum" ya'll has been my motto these past five days. I am doing what I can to keep myself healthy and mentally strong for the long haul.

@Eoin - right there with you friend and appreciate the thoughts. I've read all your comments to SWMBO the last couple of days and it did give her comfort that you all cared.

@Photo Egg - CAT scans, Ultrasonic scans, and CAT scans with contrast may not have been able to provide as clear a picture as the surgeon needed. The doctor who removed the lodged stones from her bile duct told the surgeon what he saw but this doc really tried to do the job laparoscopically but couldn't get enough room pull it out.  Much longer recovery time with this procedure but "we shall endeavor to persevere"

Wow, I’m as surprised as @Photo Egg - I’m not nearly as educated in medicine as some though.

Please do do keep us informed of your situation. I have no doubt that the two of you will get through this to much better times in the future :)

SWMBO has been getting up and walking to the bathroom because they are allowing her ice chips and later this evening actual water. Doctor came in and moved her stomach around and said that was good enough to put her on a liquid diet starting tomorrow. She's in pain but no morphine today per her request. She is going to be sore for a while I think but she's a trouper. Thanks all.

Way to continue the upward trend.  Time to bring it home.  Congrats to   SWMBO for reasonably dealing with the pain.  However, should it get there, at some point "better livin' thru chemistry" comes into play.  FWIW-

Well all, SWMBO is home and resting. Been on liquid diet since last Friday and is a bit weak. Will have a follow-up appointment with the surgeon in about 10 days and have the staples removed. We both appreciate you thoughts and prayers. It has been said by others but the members of this forum are the best. Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear that she’s home and resting.  Hope you’re able to rest better too.

@R2Egg2Q - at the risk of being marked Off Topic again, thanks for your wishes. We both slept reasonably well last evening but SWMBO is feeling a lot of nausea today so I will be busy caring for her. Can't keep anything down, all she had after she got home was an English muffin with a little butter and some water. Hard to have much energy when you can't keep food down.
