Granite Table-top Question

Options
I have a custom built table for my large BGE. It runs 60 inches by 28 inches and the hole for the egg is 21 inches in diameter. I’ve recently run across a piece of granite for a good few that is precut that matches my table except the hole is 24 inches in diameter. Do you think that extra 3 inches will matter? Will a large BGE be secure if I replace my wooden top with this new granite slab with a bigger hole?

I don't think the top of my table provides any support to the egg. Are you worried about it tipping?  Do you have your egg in a table nest?

Is the plan to remove your current top and replace it with granite?

When I did my table, I removed the old top.  The only challenge with the 24" hole is that you'll have about a 2 1/2" gap around the top of the egg.  Aesthetics could come into play.

If you don't remove your old top you'll have about 1 1/2" of probably catch some hot coals, food droppings or ashes.

    Good luck

Yes I am going to remove the wooden top that’s on there now. I am just worried about the egg tipping but I assume it will be fine with the bigger hole.

the egg will not tip unless you are moving the table round hitting things ;)  my eggs sit on a patio stone, no table or nest, never tipped

My large table. Had the granite cut to make putting in the egg easier, much less lifting. Table has 6 casters to make it easy to move around. That piece of wood gets put back in when it is time to move the table. Sits on the cutout piece of granite on a nest with a broken plate sitter to catch any sparks that might get thru the screen. Looks like this when I am going to move it again:

That is a vinyl deck and I always have the hose ready to go anytime I am cooking.
