Granite Top replacement?

Hey Guys, 

I’m looking for a replacement granite top for my egg table. Where is the best place to locate one of these as I did not purchase the table originally. The piece currently in the table is 18x18 and looks to be Galaxy Black in color. I’m located in the Marietta, GA area. Thanks.

Troll Craigslist for people getting rid of old slabs and remnants. Granite yards should have some too.

Might also check Lowes and Home Depot. They also sell some granite tiles in the 18x18 size.

Cheap, this is scrap to them. 

Not really. The scraps are a lot thicker than the tile the OP is looking to replace.

Only problem with that is the min order is a case or $72. I only need 1 tile. I’ll call a local shop to see what they quote me.

Not really. The scraps are a lot thicker than the tile the OP is looking to replace. 

Didn’t think about the depth, just know the small pieces left over from counter tops is scrap to them. The company I used for my countertops said they would sell me small bathroom countertops for the labor to shape them as it’s just left over from large slabs used. Didn’t think about tiles.

If I were the op, I’d hit up a  local granite place and have the entire top replaced.

A granit shop will charge you depending on the thickness, the edge you want on it (if any) and the color/style. Good news is you have cool stuff to choose from. Bad news, get the wallet out.

Had my local granite shop cut a 18 x 18 scrap 3/4” thick for a 30 pack of Bud Light!  Guess they were thirsty!

In your area there should be a ton of granite counter shops.  I would think that size could be had from a "drop" they have laying around from cutting out the kitchen opening.  Just call around to all of them until you find the one that will work with you.  It also may work out better to drive to a few and walk in the shipping/receiving area and talk to someone on the floor instead of a "front line" sales person.

Thanks for all the help guys. I was able to get 2 pieces for $20 from a seller on the OfferUp App in my area. Now I have extra pieces. I’m going to stain and put quarter round on a piece and place it under the egg on my table. Pictures to come. Man I love this site.

You musta been dealing with an employee and not the owner.  I wouldn’t fire up my saw for a 30pk.  Just saying.

I was looking for a piece of scrap to put on my xl table, 291/2 square, they wanted 100 and another 150 to cut to size and finish the edges. They still have the granite! Lol

These guys are on McFarland just off 400 in alpharetta. They did the Granite counter tops in my kitchen. They might have some scrap or could cut you one to size.

Couple granite shops near you in Acworth and Kennesaw. Try Builders Surplus in Smyrna too.
