I got APL's Serious Barbecue to make Christmas dinner and decided to try my hand at another of his recipes tonight: Grilled Shrimp Cocktail.
My notes:
Buying whole raw shrimp and de-veining yourself makes a big difference. You get way more shrimp flavor. It is a pain in the butt but worth it.
I must have used every large bowl in my house. Between the brining step, the cocktail sauce, the tossing in oil step, and the tossing in oil/lemon juice I had to do a ton of dishes. The flavor was great. I kept going back for more sauce and I have never really enjoyed cocktail sauce prior to making it for this dish.
Get lots of paper towels and adult refreshments of choice.
