Thermometers- Wireless

I see the Smoke on the Thermoworks site, and it seems good. I "think" I would like to have it available to me on my phone for the longer cooks when I have to run to the store (for more beverages, of course

Just wondering what all is out there, what others are happy with, and maybe something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, although, not sure that last one is possible when it comes to smoking!

Fireboard.
The Smoke with the additional WiFi gateway is about the same price as the Fireboard.
If you decide you don't really need/want the ability to monitor temps while away from home (or don''t to drop more than a Benjamin) then the Smoke is a good thermo.

I can't recommend the Meater.. (kickstarter), I've been a backer since Oct. 2015 and still no product delivered. The single meater probes are available now. The block - which is 4 probes still in development. Early feedback from single probe users is pretty positive. The block allows direct cloud monitoring. Note this is a truly wireless thermometer. Has potential but if wires coming out your egg aren't a problem, I'd advise you to go with proven technology (smoke/fireboard). Honestly think Meater will go bankrupt before they deliver to the block backers.

Had a Maverick when starting out. It did pretty good. Probes aren't the best and could be difficult at first to figure out how to set it up.
I got a Smoke this year and love it. The lanyard remote is nice too. You can get the Gateway for Wi-Fi, but I don't have that nor need/desire it.
I've also heard good things about Fireboard, but I don't personally have that unit.

I have the smoke and love it, great thermometer for around the house, I don't have the gateway yet, (hoping santa comes through) but very happy with it. if you are looking for a controller, I have really liked the flameboss 300, great product and both thermoworks and flameboss have great customer service

Another +1 for the Smoke. I trust it more than my built in dome thermo. I usually put the grate probe and meat probe in an hour or so into the cook. These two data points, when combined with the dome thermo, let me know what is going on and let me relax (okay not really, but they could).Plymouth, MN

I have the Fireboard with fan controller and it is fantastic. I use a BBQ Guru fan and love being able to remotely monitor and adjust cook temp if necessary.

Maverick, tossed, along with two sets of probes that went bad.
Therm-Pro, tossed, along with one set of probes that went bad.
Smoke now, so far so good, love the build quality, and I don't need/want a Gateway (most here stock pallets of lump, I stock pallets of beverages and I am right)___________"They're eating the checks! They're eating the balances!"

Looked at the Smoke last night and by the time you add the wifi option you've almost spent what you would on a temp controller such as the Smobot. My Smobot came in a few days ago and thus far I like it. I will do a full review after I use it a few times. The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

I had a old weber wireless POS. I got rid of it and bought a smoke. I didn't get the wifi box, the Bluetooth range is amazing. I am ok with going out and adjusting the temp once in a while so I don't think I have any use for something like a smobot. I did a small prime a could weeks ago. Once the lid was closed I didn't touch anything the entire cook. I pulled it when the smoke showed 115 and check with my thermopen and it was right at 120.

Thanks for this thread. It sold me! Smoke here I come. Does anyone have the gateway? But being able to graph my cooks does get me all sorts of excited.

I didn't have the need for the gateway honestly, but that doesn't mean it's not for you.------------------------------
