why doesn't someone come up with a flexible or long curved ash tool that will reach the back of a large or XL BGE?

Hey, if you have an idea .. run with it. That's how awesome idea's get going.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

I made one one time using a piece of wire cable and then attached a small block of wood to the end shaped and sized to the space between the outer shell and the fire box wall. It worked within reason, but once I got it hung up and had to take my egg apart to get it out! Don't think I ever used it again!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

A leaf blower works but is not recommended._____________

I use a piece of this cut to length and bent over on the end for 2". You can bend any shape on the end you want

we make a curved ash tool for the primo. we can make it for the egg just about any length or bend. stainless 1/4" rod with 1/8" thick face.
I played on the wire bender and came up with the lump rake below. easy way to move burning lump around and keep your hands clean. it's built like a brick sheeeethouse - use it to bust up lump too. 5/16" stainless rod.

yo, @Dawgtired - I believe I was the only one who got your "wrap around the back" question and posed my experience to date. I also sent you a message from here - just in case you thought you got a spam email.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

This year, I used mine to help clean my gutters behind these SOB's.
Worked great!

Forget the shape... Why doesn't BGE make one that doesn't rust in a matter of months?

The one that came with my KJ jr works great in my large BGE. The rod is straight and stiff. The elbowed flat part is offset for the lip at the front.Aledo, Texas
