Make A Turkey For A Stranger?

I'm not sure if I should bring this up and I don't want to guilt anyone into anything. That's not my intention whatsoever. I was thinking with turkey prices being low right now that it might be an awesome time to help someone in need this holiday.
My wife and I smoked an extra turkey last year and doubled are sides. I was fortunate to have the extra XL BGE last year for the extra turkey. I have since sold the XL. What I'll do this year is make the extra turkey the day before. Sides could even be made or prepped the day before. I think most of us vision that we need to have a picture perfect Thanksgiving with everything done to perfection. In reality we have families that sit around the table who can't afford a thanksgiving meal or a way to get to the grocery store.
This is more less of a thought for someone who might be inspired to do something this year. My wife and I did this last year very last second. I think we called the local food bank and they had us matched with a person in under 10 minutes. It was an incredible experience. The lady sobbed and couldn't thank us enough for what we had done.
I know how crazy life can get. Especially around holidays. This doesn't need to be some big huge event. I smoked a turkey, made some instant potatoes, gravy, boxed stuffing, and had a simple desert. Basic as it gets. The lady emailed my wife and I thanking us for everything and how great the meal was. Like I mentioned before, it doesn't have to be some picture perfect expensive meal. I bet we were under $35 for everything.
Again, I'm not trying to pressure anyone into doing anything, but if anyone has thought about doing something in the past an hasn't its worth it!

Good for you. We need more stuff like this in the world.
In a similar vein, my wife and I lead an effort to adopt families for Christmas through a local community center. They give us the family's wish list, and we (with some friends) buy the items on the list. The kids get some toys, and some clothes. The adults' lists always include everyday items like paper towels, deodorant, toilet paper, etc. Really puts things into perspective how fortunate we are.
None of this has to be a big effort, I'm sure there are local groups wherever you live that would absolutely love to have any support we can provide. -

That's really cool how you adopt a family for Christmas. I completely agree how stuff like this puts your own life in perspective and how fortunate we are.
I know how people here love to cook/grill. I thought it might a fun/rewarding way to help someone out. Almost like are own Operation BBQ Relief spin on it. Just a thought anyway"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

@WeberWho man that is an awesome idea. It would be a great start for a Food Bank spin off program.
