Recommend a good meat probe...

It's time to get one. I've been using a digital since I got my egg a little less than a year ago. Recs? Please and thanks!

More info please.
Are you looking for a probe that you stick in a hunk of protein and leave it in there for the duration of the cook?
Do you want to monitor remotely?
Are you looking more for an instant read device?
Are you looking to control egg temps with it?
Did your first device break?Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

I've just been using a weber digital, so will manually check the temp throughout the cook.So yes, looking for something to stick in a piece of protein throughout the cook. I'd like to be able to monitor it from an app on my phone, but I haven't found too many with that feature with good reviews.
If not a device with an app, looking for one that has a second monitor wirelessly connected to the probe that I can put next to the bed if I'm cooking through the night.

thermoworks smoke and wifi gateway, great thermometer and even better tech support if there is an issue. I turned mine on, it wouldn't connect, called spoke to someone in the US that I could understand and within 5 minutes he had it fixed and I was cooking.

I have a cheaper version of the Maverick I have been using for almost 4 years now, but the Smoke by Thermoworks would be the way to go. http://www.thermoworks.com/Smoke
I am still waiting for the Meater Block that is wireless, but that may not be out till next summer if I am lucky.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo. -

I got a smoke from my wife last Christmas and a Fireboard from my mom a few days later. After using the Fireboard, I didn't even open the smoke and gave it to my father in law. Both are great, I prefer the app based interface of the Fireboard and the six channel capabilities. Plus the Fireboard can connect to just about any pit fan and run as a temp controller all at the same time.Pratt, KS

If you're going to spend that much money you really should give the Fireboard a good look since it is about the same price.
It's a great unit. Has a few more probes. Good app and website. And with its auxiliary port if you ever decide you want to use a fan blower to control your pit you can buy their Drive cable and most any 12v fan you want to use and you're good to go.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. I just got an email, that the Thermoworks Smoke is on sale 15% off today only.

Being new, and trying to play catch-up on gadgets...I bought BOTH a BBQ Guru AND a Smoke...being Italian (which means trusting no one/thing) it is a fail safe double check. The Smoke (if you don't need the guru) has been very helpful...monitors pit and food and is wi fi...so I can sit inside and watch the game while keeping an eye on the progress of what I'm cooking.
