Refrigerator Shelf Life Of Thawed Turkey

USDA recommends cooking within 2 days of it being thawed. Bought a 10lb frozen bird on Oct. 26 and put it in downstairs fridge. I know it's been more than 2 days since it was completely thawed. Took it out today and it smells kind of like a cryovaced pork shoulder. My wife is sitting at the kitchen table and said, "You better cook that real well honey because it doesn't smell very good."  I'm thinking I waited too late for this one?

    If SWMBO has concerns and the nose test gives you pause, why chance it??  
    Odds are it would turn out fine as USDA is conservative but do you want to wonder about it for the duration of the cook and then the food poisoning gestation time after?

    Yup, you're right. Not gonna even give it any more thought. It's out. Luckily still have time to get to the store for an alternative. Thanks for the advice!
