My turkey brining vessel and how I use it

I’ll check my chest cooler to see if it fits. If not HD has 10gallon in stock by me for $40RRP said:
yup! I never said I did - my reference later on in this thread to a 26.5# bird was about shoehorning it into my Large egg, not my 5 gal RubberMaid. BTW if I were you I wouldn't try to track down a 10 gal one - just use a chest style cooler instead - your bird should fit that.nutshellml said:@RRP
How did you fit that big a bird in 5gallon jug? My bird is 23# and don't think it will fit, may have to get the 10gallon one

last question - so the JA Brine calls for 12-14# turkey, mine is going on 23#, should I double everything or just add little more water to the brine at the end? I just don't want to be too overpowering. Gonna do it this morning.Northern Jersey

The epitome of trying to get a 23 lb block of $h!t into a 10 lb hole…….it just don't work. Get a bigger cooler or a couple of smaller birds.Woodchunk said:
I don't think he mentioned the size, but here is the 10galnutshellml said:@RRP

Personally I would double it. That JA Brine produces a subtle taste - not strong at all. Besides if the bird is just now going for the swim that shorter time will lessen the impact. When I use it I go 4 full days. Good luck and I hope you and yours like the effort!nutshellml said:@RRP
