@RedSkip - I was thinking the same, this was just a small piece of the flat. I'm thinking that even on sale, the price would be pretty steep.

It will make some good chili or a couple good ground up burgers. It's too small for a long low and slow smoke"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

You can get SRF brisket for less than that /lb as a bench-mark. It is a rip-off in my book but your call.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Could be worse ... could have been soaked in merlot.

My thoughts exactly.

@kweitz ,
Was it really packaged with a dark liquid or is that just the bottom of the packaging tray? I would think if it was really soaked in a wine or other sauce that they would have to list it in an ingredient list. It would also make the meat itself even more expensive if they counted the liquid weight as part of the "net weight".

@Shiff That is the bottom of the cryovac container. I've heard good things about the CAB beef and this was the first time I'd seen it locally. So, yeah, a pretty foolish purchase. I'll enjoy it just the same.

Yes. It’s a ripoff.

Go back on Oct 22nd and see if the price is marked down.

Yes it is a rip off. All grocery store beef or crovaced beef is wet aged Usually by the packer for a few weeks before it gets shipped out. The more liquid or “purge in the package the older it is.
