I've made them a few times after seeing @saluki2007 post and will not waste a brisket point on burnt ends anymore. They're close enough for me and half the time to make and some would say it's treasonous to waste a perfectly good point on burnt ends @lousubcap.

I did chuck burnt ends a few weeks ago and they were just ok. I still stick with doing burnt ends, but I don't sauce mine anymore and I like it better that way. The wife doesn't care for the flat, but she likes burnt ends. Also living in KC it is a must here. Not enough fat in a chuck roast for me.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.
