I received an email from the Field Skillet folks today that sent me a one time use code for $30 off their normal price. They said I could give away the code if I wasn't interested (I already have one and have almost zero interest in getting another) so if anyone was thinking about getting a Field Skillet and wanted to save a few tenners here ya go:

I think it is a fine skillet. It is smooth and lightweight just like the really old/good stuff. I like its appearance - in particular I like the outward curve of the sidewalls.

That said, of the three skillets I have bought from new manufacturers in the US in the past year or so - Finex, Stargazer, Field -  I would rank it #2. The Stargazer is my favorite of the three.

The Stargazer is no lightweight but the entire interior is smooth just like the Field skillet. What wins me over tho is the handle of the Stargazer - it's nice and long which I really like. I also like that the helper handle is not just a little "nubbin" like the one on the Field. If I'm doing a bunch of chicken pieces or other items that add up weightwise I prefer the Stargazer. If I'm just doing a few eggs or the like I prefer the Field as the weight is light enough that I won't really need a help handle anyway.

Thanks for putting the code out there. I needed a new #8 as my Griz spins like crazy on the glass top.

Nice of ya to do that Heavy.
0.7lbs heavier, the Stargazer lip looks nice too.
Fit and finish looks like Stargazer gets the nod.
$80 + shipping isn't terrible for anyone wanting an heirloom type piece for their fam.

Sweet! Would like to hear your impressions of it after you have used it for a while.

No problem. I like what I see thus far.
