Toas Tite sandwich maker

I found this tucked away in the new house. Anyone use one of these? Looks interesting.

I think Focker posts about those from time to time - pie irons I think.
    Love you bro!
  • I've used something similar when camping. Can make some killer grilled meat and cheese sandwiches over a campfire.

oh yeah.  I have a round and square versions.  Square fits bread slices easier.  We use them camping.  butter the outsides of the bread, load inside with whatever you want.  One favorite is pizza ingredients or PB&J.

  • Load them with nutella. And perhaps some banana slices, you know, to make it healthy.
Wisconsin, lbge, MM, kab, pig tail flippers, bear claws, and more rubs than I will admit to.

Cool, haven't seen a Toas Tite in the wild.
Most pie irons are either iron, or Al.  The handles do look a bit shorter than the traditional Rome CI ones we use by the fire.  I think it would still work fine though.

Sweet or savory, the potential is endless.
Bread, flour tortillas, puff pastry, rolled pie crust, pizza dough, naan, spring roll wrappers, pita, hashbrowns, waffles, hamburger buns, english muff, cinnamon rolls.

And then the fillings.  Dried fruit, coconut, nuts, choc chips, caramel, marshmallows, pb, nutella, pie filling.  Lots of cool stuff out there.

I received a book as a gift, Pudgie Revolution, that is awesome and chock-full of creative pie iron goodness.

I just watched a few youtube videos on the toas tite.  A lot of the videos show indoor stove top use.  Looks delicious.  This dude uses it on a stovetop on a boat that is underway.  I like how the stovetop pivots to stay level.

  • That thing looks like it might be fun. Hope you will post a pic or two when you use it.

Sweet! I see a new use for pulled pork and leftover brisket.
  • Must mention good old grilled cheese, with any additions like cooked bacon or pulled pork.

Those are great for campfire Moonpies.  You can do a dessert style:  s'mores, or sandwiches with lunch meat:  ham, pep, salami, thin mayo, pickles...crazy good.

contents inside are hot, caution when giving to little kids... nice score.
